1970 GMC Pickup

My cruiser!

My 1970 GMC Short-Box Step-Side pickup was my daily driver before I built my Toyota 4x4. It was painted "Primrose Red", an early-1970's Ford racing colour. Primrose Red is really orange, and is slightly brighter than Chevy "Hugger Orange." Mags were Appliance 5-spokes, with P235/60R15 tires in the front, and P275/50R15 tires in the rear. Engine was a rebuilt Chevy 355 engine, with a rebuilt Quadrajet carb, Edelbrock SP2P intake, mild cam, HEI ignition, "ram-horn" exhaust manifolds, and dual exhausts. Other features included a Turbo 350 automatic transmission, front and rear coil springs, front disc brakes from a 1972 Chevy pickup, "deluxe" side-marker lights, re-chromed front bumper, El Camino rear bumper and tail-lights, and a Chevy tailgate that I never did get around to replacing.

The interior was basically stock, with the exception of seat covers and an aftermarket tach, and was painted to match the exterior. The truck still had the working factory AM radio.

Interior

This was a great truck to cruise around in. It was fast, low, loud, and turned a lot of heads. You'll note that I refer to this vehicle in the past tense... It met an untimely demise when an idiot driving a small car pulled out from a driveway, attempted to cross two lanes of rush-hour traffic on a busy road, and appeared in front of me from behind a truck. Obviously, his car was a write-off. My GMC was easily fixable, but the insurance company did not want to fix it (old vehicle), so they gave me a cash settlement and I got the truck back. I sold the truck, and used all the proceeds to build my Toyota 4x4. Yes, I do miss it; maybe I'll build another one in the future.
