Ramp Test |
Aug 19/99: I ramped the truck at Breeze Industries today; 827 RTI on a 20° ramp with the tires at 10 psi, which is what I usually run when rock crawling.
I am running Frontier HD 5" front springs, and HD 6" rear springs. I used the HD springs instead of the Crawler springs because I wanted to be able to carry a full load of camping gear, tools, spare parts, and 18 gallons of spare gas. Check the mods page for more suspension details.
My front compression is maxed out; the tire hits the back of the fenderwell. Once I can afford cross-over steering, I will move the axle forward, which will allow a bit more travel.

Oct/01: Here's some ramp pics which show the new suspension with the 4OffRd Chevy rear springs, drop shackles, wider 1994 rear axle, front axle moved forward 1.5", and 35" tires at street pressure (28 psi).
