Another step in evolution: A Ford pickup emerges from the primordial depths of Stave Lake, around the end of October '98. The owner was driving around the mud flats at midnight in the fog, and wound up backing into the lake while turning around. I got the call from a local tow-truck company (whose truck got stuck and couldn't get to him) at 5:00 am, drove out to the lake ("Uh, are you sure your little Toyota can pull me out? I've been under 6 feet of water for 6 hours!!"), and winched him straight out. Go Toyota!
